Rumors
Right, so I recently found out that there was this rumor about something I "did" being spread around at the Wyo Co-op. It's blantantly false and I'm incredibly pissed off about this. I want to know who started this rumor and who spread it. If you're brave enough to talk shit about be behind my back, then be brave enough to say it to my face. I'm so sick and tired of the rather large part of the debate community that thinks I'm a dirty slut, because I'm not one. In fact that's close to being the opposite of what I am. I'm not a prude, but I'm not dirty either.

I am taking it personally. I've been trying to laugh it off for awhile now, but I don't think you understand how hard it is to laugh something off when you get introduced to someone and they say something along the lines of "Oh! I know you. You did so-and-so at the Wyo Co-op."
I'm fine with gossip as long as it's true. But when people start spreading things about me that are blatantly false, but a lot of people would probably believe because they don't know me at all or very well, it gets to the point where I can't laugh it off anymore. I know that this issue bothered quite a few people. It's just that I'm not going to hide behind Jason or Jake or someone else and let them do the talking for me. I have a problem and I'm standing up for myself.

Of course, I was not present at the coop, and have not actually heard the rumor. I have no interest in hearing the rumor, because I think that it is better to respect people's privacy and self than to perpetuate the mindless gossip and character assasination that routinely plagues our overdeveloped little niche world.
However, in an effort to raise my profile in the debate community, I would like to formally announce that the rumor in current circulation about Kate, while wholly untrue, is in fact completely and %100 true about me. I did that thing. I did it proudly and with the expertise of a seasoned veteran. I did it twice on Saturday because on Sunday I rested for the Sabbath. I did it like this. I did it like that. I did it with a wiffle ball bat. Now then, because no publicity is bad publicity and I have copped to it, we can all stop being such discourteous jerks to Kate and let her maintain her rightful dignity instead of just salivating like Pavlov's dog at the ringing bell of unsubstantiated untruths. Thank you.

Kate,
I think you are a fun person and it is cool to have you around. I have to say that you encourage a lot of gossip and discusion about you by having fun in the ways that you do. I am not one who makes a valuative statement about you or your actions. I am not posting to make you feel bad or smear you. I do have to say that everything I give you a bad time about and joke about is stuff I told you I would before you decided to do them. I also get made fun of and razzed, and the truth gets stretched. I was professionally damaged by the NPDA incidents and rumors. I have to empathize with you on one level and say on another level that no one probably intended to talk crap. It probably started as a near truth or speculation and spread the network and become a cold har lie about you. Obviously it is hard to address vague posts like yours, but if I was the cause of any rumor with my jokes and innuendo, I am sorry.

Kate- I feel your pain... I've heard some interesting things about myself, too. People need to mind their own business. It amazes me that some people are lame enough to just make up stupid shit like that. it sucks, but the more you let it seriously bother you, the more they win. Besides, all of the cool people don't care about what's new on the grapevine.
