The 2010 (Not) Mile High Swing

Friends,

I just wanted to make an announcement about this January’s (Not) Mile High Swing. After three years of co-hosting this swing, Regis University and Rob Margesson will not be a co-host this year. Rob is hosting the US Universities Championship on the DU campus in April, and he felt that it would be difficult to host both events on the DU campus in one semester. I’m going to miss Rob as a co-host of this event, but I understood his reasoning and am thankful to him for the work he put in to make three great weekends of debating in Denver.

With that said, there are some changes to be made for this year’s event. First of all, I am pleased to announce that Sim Butler and The Colorado College will join us in co-hosting the swing in this and in future years.

Secondly, for this year only, we will be moving the swing to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. The reasons for this change are many; we were changing campuses regardless, and as this year’s NPDA Championship will be hosted on the Tech campus, we felt that this would be an opportunity for teams to face high-quality opposition and gain familiarity with the campus, community and local judging pool at the same time. In future years, we will be returning to Colorado and hosting the swing on the CC campus.

Yes, I know the irony of a “Mile High Swing” in Lubbock. Call it the (Not) Mile High Swing.

The dates for this year’s tournament will be Saturday-Monday, January 16-18. The Sat-Mon dates will allow us to utilize our school’s Monday holiday and have full access to all TTU buildings for all three days.

I hope you join us this January in Lubbock!

i hope this is just a dumb question- but are you all back in school (not on winter break) the week before? because if you are you should probably have full access to all the buildings right?

Not sure if we can make it out this year. I think it will be last minute decision.

On another note, you can buy alcohol in Lubbock now... Which rules.

Another note, is there any rule that prohibits the bringing in of puppies to debate rounds?
