Debate Teaching Position in Korea
IDEA is recruiting for two debate teacher positions in Seoul, South Korea with the Korea Poly School (KPS). KPS is seeking Canadian or US citizens to teach debate to middle school students for at least one academic year at one of their campuses in Seoul (Ilsan or Mokdong). You can learn more about KPS at http://www.koreapolyschool.com/about/12.htm.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and be willing to work in Korea for a minimum one academic year. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an international educational environment and will have some experience doing so. Candidates must be ready to leave for Korea in August of 2009. While IDEA is assisting KPS in recruiting trainers, as well as providing technical support to them, the instructors will be KPS employees. IDEA will, however, provide pre-departure orientation as well as teaching and curriculum materials. Furthermore, IDEA will attempt to provide optional opportunities to participate in IDEA-sponsored events and activities taking place around Korea or other Asian countries. Applications should include a current CV, a cover letter, and the contact information of 2 references. Please send to ehumphrey@idebate.org by May 1, 2009. A full job description can be found at http://www.idebate.org/news/article.php?id=219.

As the current holder of the Ilsan position, I very much endorse this program. It's been all kinds of fun. If anyone is interested and would like the perspective of someone who's had this job, you can pm me or reach me at ilsandebate [at] hotmail [dot] com. I'd be happy to answer your questions.
