At the nw parli-ie warmup—we are offering platform speaking in addition to extemp and impromptu.

Platform speaking is a 10 minute prepared (though not necessarily manuscripted) speech that is informative, persuasive, or after dinner speaking. Powerpoints may be used.

Encourage your students to do extemp, impromptu, or platform speaking at the tournament.

for absolute clarity, the gingrich topic area is:

____ The US congress should implement the Dream Act, the Democrat’s “Conceptual Proposal for Immigration Reform,” and/or the 6th step of Gingrich’s proposal for legal status for currently undocumented people in the United States.

Thanks to Jim and Denise, as well as the debaters of Whitman and Bellevue for hosting a great kick-off to the season for the NW. And congratulations to Whitman for starting off in style by winning all three divisions!
