where did all the tournaments go?

does anyone else think it is odd that there were six less tournaments this year compared to each of the last two seasons?

could someone explain why this is the case?

i thought with the increase in swings that there would be more tournaments...shows what i know...

And along those lines, one of my charges as DOF at UNR (all those acronyms - I must be in the military!) is to host a tournament each year. This year, as readers of other threads know, we're doing the state hs tourney. Next year, I'm open to thinking about hosting a college one instead. I'm also open to suggestions about timing, and I'm REALLY open to input from everyone who can help me with what I need to know to do this successfully! Reno is fairly handy for a lot of the West Coast, and our air service is good from a lot of Midwestern cities. We'll be at Willamette, and I'll be open to requests/suggestins.

Pacific and Reno used to host a tournament every fall semester together. I never went, but I heard fun things about it.

You might also want to talk to teams like Los Rios, Modesto or Davis who may be willing to help and co host it at your location. You get more hands and experience to help you which may reduce stress load. I personally think hosting a college tournament is a lot less stressful though so since you will have had a high school tournament this year you can probably handle anything on your own! :)

Drury had to cancel in fall '05. We hit space/resource issues in relation to other events on campus.

a few more tournaments showed up on the npte site... so that helps explain things.

oh, and i don't think the usafa tournament happened this year.

If you are looking at NPTE tournaments -- Century's counted last year but won't this year (past the deadline...).
