Mr. Steck, could you please refer me to the study you once cited in support of the children-as-voters argument? The one that delineates voting as a distinctly expressive act, as opposed to a search for rational policy outcomes or whatnot.
Thanks in advance.

No, we lost it. :P
Picked up in the gold round with the same case and an even stupider link, though, so I can't complain.
If we hadn't clowned Contreras in the sixth prelim I would had to have held a serious grudge against SOC for the Britney debacle.
I'm eagerly awaiting your findings, Jason.

Big shout-out to my man Ken Tran! First partner I ever had!
This guy is the reason I'm debating today.
Here's to the leftover debaters winning gold at State!
Step up, Sam, I've only gotten better at killing T.
For those who don't know, it was [I believe] 4th round at the CCCFA [California Community College Forensics Association] State Championships, the res was TH S Spear Brittany.
So we decided that pop-culture debate is annoying and we really didn't know what house could take action against her that wouldn't equate to censorship, so we ran the US should repeal the steel tarriffs they had just levied [the ones that were just repealled in the news].
Yeah. We set up the case to satte that the only reason the tarriffs were instituted was because they were wildly popular in steel producing states, paving the way for republican takeovers of the house seats during midterm elections less than a year away [in retrospect, republicans took every available seat in Penn and West Virg.- steel states if there ever were any].
So we linked to the res with a metaphorical def. After all, Brittany Spears is throwaway pop, the kind we see come in different incarnations every few years- as Menudo begat New Kids on the Block [NKOTB!] begat Backstreet Boys. They are wildly popular norms in their own time, but can later be revealed as having littl eartistic merrit or value, just as the steel tarriffs were hugely popular in these states, though did nothing to fix the buckling US steel industry, whose problems were in-house accounting, not foreign competition.
Anyway, we ended steel tarriffs, and I got a 30 in the round.
And some people won't ever let you live down a win...
