Question: Will Tony Blair be at the helm when the next Commons election is called?
Or will it be the Chancellor Formerly Known as Gordon Brown?

for those who haven;t seen it, there's an interesting short article in this month's Atlantic Monthly on the role that Blair plays in the world-- and how Clinton could have played something similar, and botched the whole thing up royally.
Yea, he'll hang in there. Beside, Brown is boring and IDS just looks like a hardboiled egg-- in so many ways.

The images that I see on C-SPAN of the parilament's reaction to Tony Blair sure make it seem like he's going to have a difficult time hanging in there. The vast majority of the nation seems to oppose him--even the vast majority of people in his own party. I think his support for the war on Iraq is going to cost him in the next election.

Also, Blair's popularity ratings are higher than Labor's by over a dozen percentage points. No reason to back an upstart because it will just frustrate their ability to enact their preferences.
