Hi guys. Ideas? I must say, I don't mind paying a little money to NB on my own, but I can't fathom how you could possibly explain it to anyone else...maintaining a online debate forum doesn't have the ring of a "cause", you know?
I'm going to be in New Orleans from this afternoon until Sunday. But I'll come up with some money from someone..how does $10 sound? At the least I can make sure I'm ahead on the bar tabs and then make one of my girlfriends put some of the difference in here.
What are we thinking? You all have access to more debate types than me.
Wow....Andrea's right, it wouldn't be easy to get friends and family to donate to a debate board.
Strangers, however, I would have no problem hitting up, since I won't have to see them again....I might post a general message on a couple of the other boards I am on, but a lot of those people are as poor as us, so....
Any other ideas?
Joe

Since we ourselves can make the donation, it might be okay after all...You don't even have to tell people what the money is for..don't lie and say March of Dimes or something, but, you know.
Here is my tentative plan for this weekend:
1)All loose and found change goes to the NB Elves fund.
2)Find creative ways to wheedle friends and strangers out of small amounts of money. This may include making little cash bets (that I win of course, probably involving drinking or trivia), or asking random guys for quarters (it's New Orleans and I'll be dressed cute, so why not). Whatever I think of.
3)Making sure my friend Anita owes me money by Sunday, then making her deposit the difference here.
4)What ever else comes to mind.
Just so you know I'm on it.

I am going to a debate party this weekend hosted by the venerable Phil Sharp at his dads cabin on the coast, ill get what I can there. Ill count out my change thingy a few bucks in there. The only caveat is after I count the change ill get it into bills and snail it to whoever in the tribe can put it on a card as I have an ideology against having a credit card, therefore do not have one. Ill be back soon with more specifics....

I can kick in a few bucks as well -- I think Jason is going to be out of town along with Dre, but I'll be here. So I'll watch the totals and if we start to slip behind, throw some in.
And Will, you know you can set up PayPal without a credit card, right? All you need is a bank account. ;)

I just put $10 to get us started so we're in the game. If I don't recoup that with my pandering this weekend (which I probably will) I'll get the rest from Will or something :)
(And yeah, my PayPal goes to my bank account, not my credit card)

I dont have one of those either....I do not support the corrupt financial industry with interest from a bank account either....I cash my checks at a convienence store and have a shoe box.....Sorry folks......
Will,
You know that PayPal can deduct directly from your shoe box, right? :D
Don't worry about it, we'll figure something out if you'd like to contribute.

No worries man. We'll figure out whatever -- I'm sure you can drop the cash in an envelope to one of us and we'll contribute on your behalf. I'm certainly willing.

I did recoup my $10 this weekend, so it's all good. Sucks not seeing the other tribes totals. If any of you want to put in a couple of dollars, please do. Otherwise I'll just know I'm the big schmuck.
