Kurtis (or Zack, or whomever),

Is there actually a strategy to this silliness?

-Brian

P.S. I hate Jed, this game, this forum, and the fact that I was foolish enough to let Justin, Dan, and Amy keep me up all night. I blame Jed entirely. So, I'm going to ease up on Phil and Liz for a while and start a Net Benefits mutiny of some sort (as usual, just for the heck of it). ;)

i have absolutley no strategy

So, Jed, let's say that our tribe's flag thread were attacked by another tribe. Let's call them the ATCQTerrorists. The terrorists, who by taking and giving back our flag over the last couple of days have given us a lot of critical points for the sake of the tie-breakers. Now, before the game is over, the terrorists use their power to edit posts to go back and delete the content of all of their posts that previously took the flag. So we've lost all of our possession exchanges? Interesting question because not all now blank posts can be assumed to have previously been flag-taking posts. . . I promise that I ask this only in a fearful defensively minded way.

i'm keeping track of this stuff on a daily basis, but this strategy would be extremely annoying.

if it were to happen, all blank posts would be considered a flag transition, so all they'd be doing is increasing the number of handoffs that the other tribe has. if, on the other hand, it's in thier own thread, i won't count those posts at all, so the number will go down.

do i need to post this in a more public forum?

I don't think so. I made it up after all of the deleting (of irrelevant commentary) Amy and I did last night; wasn't threatened with it by someone else. It would be hella-annoying though, and a trend is developing for people to post with other tribe names so as to not create a flag transition. So, I may not be the only one who thinks of it. I think Phil and Dan are almost there. Feel free to post about it wherever. Maybe, instead, you should just end the game and save us all the misery. ;)

Here's what I think. We don't get anything special for posting in other people's forums, just prevent them from owning their flag. BUT we sort of help them by giving them more transitions if that's a tiebreaker.

So I suggest, just to give ourselves a break, that we concentrate on owning OUR flag at all times. I think there might be something to completely ignoring everyone else. Other people will post there for us, probably...and they'll post in ours too, allowing us to take back our flag and create another transition.

Also, remember 2 teams can win...another, more complicated option would be to collaborate with another team to make sure we 2 own our flags and the others either don't, or have less transitions....

Just some thoughts. Brian, what do you mean about people posting with other tribes' names?

And remember, if 3-4 teams own their flag, the 2 winners are the ones with the most transitions...which is good for us, as as I type this I think the tribes with the most are us and Uber Hybrid...as long as we have OUR flag there is absolutely no way we can't get immunity...don't give ZeHo and friends a chance to catch up!

It's a corrollary to the ignoring strategy your talking about, which is totally right on. You just have to watch carefully that folks are posting their own tribe's name and that they are following someone from another tribe when they post for it to count as a transition. Mostly Phil and Dan P. and Amy and I have done it as an annoyance factor or, Amy and I did it in each others thread's today to make it look to Phil, if we was just looking at the table of contents and assuming who was the last to post that we covered each other's tribes. Not sure that made sense. But it worked for a little while--and definitely had a fun psychological impact that Amy and I deserve for staying up another night.

So, bottom line is that Andrea's totally right. I owe Amy nothing more. We just worked together last night to boost the Uber and Ninja transition totals. Phil had offered something similar to me and Kurtis between us and ATCQ. I made a plea to Amy to do it instead (invoking A-Team camradarie, Andrea :) ), because it's better for ATCQ to not get two immunities in a row. She went for it. Uber and Ninjas are now totally set for the tie-breakers (we're about 100 transitions ahead of ATCQ and about 20 ahead of Uber, and Zeho is way way further behind).

Andrea's right . . .ignore the others and keep us owning our own flag. I'd just post in the others if you notice that no one from their tribe is on to defend it back and up their totals.

Oh yeah, and pray to Jed that he ends this soon.

Cool. I was getting ready to walk away. Just had my computer on during the game to watch now and then. Problem then was when someone from two different tribes showed, it meant that they could make it be 1 or 2 tribes holding their flag at one time, excluding us--the only way we lose. So, keep 'em talking in our thread for as long as you feel like it. But no later. I'm outta here til tomorrow. As tempting as gossiping about Audrey and GDS would be.

Well I don't know what's going on...Jed has locked the threads, with our flag in Miss Kalman's hands. Sorry guys, I was doing quite well and was just posting a reply to her when it got locked. Maybe the contest is over, but if so I don't know why he's said "break time." I'll be up tomorrow morning so I'll hopefully be around for when it's re-opened, if it is. I just don't want to see the same tribe get immunity...not that it really matters, they know they're carrying around dead weight...

See you in the morning,
Andrea

People on flag duty:

Do NOT get into the habit of posting in everyone's threads automatically. We want to make sure none of the other tribes get more transitions than us. Brian and I are employing the strategy of staying away from the forums that aren't ours altogether and I suggest you do too, but if you insist on posting..

ONLY do it when the original tribe reclaims their flag. If it's ATCQ's flag, and ZeHo claims it, DON'T POST. It does us no good and indirectly might help TCQ. Got it?

Go Ninjas!

Kurtis Blow

i had employed that strategy too, dre.

Dre, I'm here. I just can't figure out how to control when I show up as anonymous and when my name shows up on top. It's started happening randomly now. Kurtis covered for a while. We coordinated over AIM. He's now off to Prom, and beyond  . Things have been pretty quiet mostly. Jed's come by a few times. A few times it's been busy. Not much though.
