Hi all,

As we have done in past years, the UCLA team will be holding a pre-Nationals practice on March 10th, and inviting all local schools to come debate with us. We've had USC, Claremont, SOC, OCC, El Camino, and the rest of the locals before, and anyone who wants to come down is more than welcome.
Please join us for a laid-back day of practice and feedback. There are THREE new reasons to swing by: First, I am more in charge this year, which means better organization, and I promise to write decent resolutions. Secondly, we will be making time to have some discussion about what to expect at Nationals: judges, regional differences, and what other teams like to run :) Thirdly, I promise there will be awards this year- not trophies, but something interesting. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Andrea Saenz
Captain, UCLA Debate

Tentative Schedule: Sunday, March 10

9:00 Round 1
10:15 Round 2
11:30 Round 3
12:30-2:00 Lunch and Nationals discussion
2:00 Round 4
3:30 Semifinals (if we want to)
Finals to follow

Fees: There is no charge except $5/person for collective pizza and drinks.

Judges: Please try to bring a judge for every two teams, but we are relaxed about this. Judges do not need to have a B.A. or forfeit eligibility- they only need to be able to give good oral feedback to competitors. The only consequence of not bringing enough judges is that you may have to debate without one and critique each other, but we will try to minimize this.

Rules: Standard NPDA format except that all rounds are expected to be followed by judge disclosure and oral critique.

Dress Code: Casual!
