Parliamentary Debate
We are offering only an Open division in NPDA-style Parliamentary Debate. Any student, regardless of competitive level, may enter the Open division. 8 preliminary rounds of parliamentary debate will be followed by an appropriate number of elimination rounds as indicated by the NPDA constitution. We will administer the NPDA debate competition in accordance with approved NPDA procedures. The topic will be announced in Dwinelle Hall, and debates will begin 20 minutes from the announcement. Disclosure will be at the discretion of the judge, but we will post results as soon as they become available.

Elimination Rounds
The top teams in each division will proceed to the elimination rounds. Teams advance first on W-L record, secondly based on adjusted speaker points, and finally by the quality of competition. BRACKETS WILL BE BROKEN IN ELIMINATION ROUNDS.

Awards
Awards will be given to all teams advancing beyond preliminary rounds, and to the top 10 speakers at the tournament.

Judges
One judge covers 2 teams. Every judge is required to judge one round beyond the round in which their students are eliminated. We request that judges provide a judging philosophy, which they can submit online at the tournament registration website (address available below). Judges must either have a B.A or have competitive forensics experience and have run out of NPDA eligibility. Hired judges will be paid $10 per round.

Fees
$60 per each NPDA team
$75 per each uncovered NPDA team
$40 school fee

Fees will be assessed on the Wednesday preceding the tournament.

Entry Procedures
We are pleased to announce the creation of an online registration system, which allows directors to easy access and edit a database tracking fees, judges, other teams entered, and judging philosophies. Please go to www.calforensics.org and click the link to the Golden Gate Invitational
appearing in the upper right hand corner. Instructions to proceed appear on the GGI page. The entry deadline is Wednesday, October 30, 2002. However, the tournament is limited to sixty teams, so we recommend you register as soon as possible. We encourage judges to enter judging philosophies on the web site, so that they are available in a downloadable format before the tournament begins.
