Dear Friends,
The DePauw University Forensics & Debate Team & The Department of
Communication Arts & Sciences cordially invite you to attend the 1st Annual
DePauw Debates on January 26, 2003 in scenic Greencastle, Indiana.
Our tournament will offer six preliminary rounds of NPDA parliamentary
debate, with appropriate elimination rounds. Yes! We are holding this
tournament on one day our first year given we are focusing only on parli.
As well, we will not be charging individual team fees nor will we be hiring
judges for teams. We will require a flat fee of $50 from each school and we
will provide you names of qualified individuals 'in the region' should you
need to hire more judges. We will not be hiring any critics for schools.
Sorry, Greencastle is fairly rural and lacks the plethora of quality judges
many locales enjoy. YOUR JUDGES ARE YOUR FEES! If you are unable to find
qualified critics or hire suggested critics, we will be forced to limit your
entry. This constraint is only a precaution so that we can provide everyone
with an educational and fun experience! (Of course if you bring more
critics than your entry requires, we will reduce or eliminate your fees
altogether!) Do make sure you contact me/us early if you plan on bringing
more than 6 teams OR if you'd like names of critics to hire!
Let us know if you have any other questions or concerns prior to the
tournament. We look forward to seeing you in Indiana!
Sincerely,
Curt Gilstrap
