I know Corax and Tisias are getting out of hand, and from talking to a lot of people, I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I also think recent events show that just letting people post anonymously also causes problems.
Merely banning Corax and Tisias will do nothing for the problem of anon posting.
So should anon posting as a whole be banned?

I say get rid of them. It has just gotten completly destructive for this community to tolerate any longer. If your coach dosen't let you participate, that sucks and I am sorry (BTW you should organize your teammates and fight that kinda stuff), but dosen't justify us letting horrible sexual harrasment, slander and rumor mongering happen with the frequency it has been. The trade off is just way to muchand drives more people away than the anon users it brings in. This is a community that is in need of some serious rebuilding and healing, and I think a more honest and open site will really help foster that.
This ban dosen't have to be permanent, but I definatly support it until this community learns to treat each other with more dignity.

After what's just happened, I doubt they'll get much leverage with their coaches.
But what gives me pause is the fact that there are some longstanding personalities on the board, nomad being the firs to come to mind, that make great contributions.
It may be that we just need a stronger overall moderation policy.

OK, by "ban anon posting" I mean banned of the sort that is objectionable in the same sense we could moderate corax and tisias before.
I.e. abolish the artificial distinction between "anonymous" and "tisias and corax anonymous", which I used to support, but now I see is silly.
We just need to update the AUP to reflect that NO ONE, anon or not, can slander, defame, sexually harass etc. any other member of the board or of the community.
I think that takes care of a lot of the problems. You could just leave it for anon accounts, because at least when I say "OMG [name goes here] BLOWS GOATS" it's got my name attached to it and I have to be responsible for it.

Yea, I also agree that changing the mod policy and having it apply to all anon. accounts will probably fix the problem.

Ok, wait, so you don't mean 'ban all anonymous accounts', just their controversial posts? As in, mods will have to read them all, both corax/tisias and other anon accounts? Or what?
If you mean ban them all, well that's dumb: takes away a lot of controversial, yet educational discussions.
If you mean just their posts, isn't that quite a bit of the work for the mods?

On one of the other threads, someone suggested that all Corax/Tisias posts be moderated BEFORE posting, and that new anonymous accounts be pre-moderated for the first 25 or so posts. This seems reasonable to me, since it will control for the out-of-control attacks, but still allow people who need anonymity for good reasons to post safely and continue to contribute to educational discussions. If all of this is made clear during registration, it should prevent a lot of abuse, and cut down on the number of posts that need to be moderated. Also, I don't really know, of course, but wouldn't this make things a little easier for the mods? This way, all anonymous posts from Corax/Tisias and new anon users would be in one place, so the mods wouldn't have to troll through all of the threads searching for them.
I proposed what Debbie outlines above, and I do think it would be the best way. The fact that it would actually reduce the mod/admin's workload is superfluous IMO, but yes, it would make life a bit easier. It really is a pain in the ass to try and keep track of all the anon posts when they are made all over the place (and in quick succession, which is real pain). Especially because, like probably everyone that reads these boards, there are some threads we like to read, and others that we have no interest in - having to read the ones in which we have no interest just to scan anon idiocy isn't really any fun at all...
