While looking over the results from Linfield, I couldn't help but notice the University of Washington's strong showing. Do they have a consistent team now, and if so, who's running it? At any rate, it is always good to see more schools involved with forensics.

Hey Shaun!! Ncie to see you back on the board.

As many in the N'West are aware, the UW tries to get together a team every couple of years, but they get very little institutional support (there are rumors of prior scandals).

Christi Siver (formerly of L and C, now at UW law) is their support mechanism, and she tells me they plan to go to a couple fo tournaments in the region this year and nationals. Hopefully the N'West will continue to support new teams. i wish UW the best of luck, and based on the team I got to jduge, there's plenty of potential there to grow with.

Yo,

Christi gets paid to cover their entries, and because she is such a wonderful person, she coaches them as well. But, she's not their official advisor. Danielle (I'm *so* bad with last names) formerly of UO represents the organization in an official capacity, so I understand.

And just for the record, because I know she would find it ooky, she's getting her Ph.D in political science, not her law degree. I can't imagine Christi as a lawyer, unless the persecuted manatees of the world decided to prosecute humanity for species genocide. She's too Good.

Love,

Thanks ML. I knew she wasn't the coach, but I wasn't sure exactly what the hell she was, so support mechanism was what came out.

Sorry about calling her the "L" word, I would never want to bring such shame on anyone save myself and my own family :-P I think Steve or Phil gave me that impression.

"Amy, don't be a lawyer. You're too nice of a person. Keep your soul"

ML, you're never tried to save my soul!
While that does put in a distinct but distinguished minority of people I've met in my life I'm still rather disappointed. why is it the only people who care about the condition of my soul are worried about god prosecuting me not manatees?

Looking forward to the brimstone of the legal system,
Keith

Uh, dude, I keep *trying* to get you interested in interp, hopefully persuading you to abandon your pretensions of being yet another soulless cog in the legal machine and pursue your "true" calling; on the stage!

Or, you're a willful SOB, and life's just too short.

Besides, I'm convinced only about 80% of law students either A) end up completely crushed and hollowed by the experience, or B) become money-grubbing, souless assholes. You could very well wind up in the rarefied minority that refuses to be intimidated, worked, or bored to spiritual death and actually uses their intellect and skills to make the world a better place. If you're careful.....

I'm glad to see the community is welcoming our small student run program back to the circuit. We were very excited about our finish at Linfield, and hope to continue our success at future tournaments. The real credit for our program goes to the students - esp Michael Howard, for starting up a program despite the fact that he has never competed before.

Thanks to ML for defending my honor.

to our underground, online lair.

It makes me a little sad to see you referencing UW in the possessive. No more helpful prep points for us. But, once a Pio,always a Pio.

Yeah, I know, WTF's a Pio. You'll find out if you bid for the NPTE....

thanks to christi for giving me credit for starting the UW group, but both she and danielle have been responsible for our success at Linfield.
expect our group to be around for a while - despite uw's erratic history.
